Xolani Nkosiwenzile Madonsela (born 29 May 1991), known as Babwa AA, is a South African Artist, Radio Personality, and Teacher from the Mpumalanga region, KaMhlushwa Village.
He is an Art Graduate (visual arts and paintings). He came up with a business idea designing T-shirts; he had to mix things up, hard-working, and focus on both his business and studies in teaching. Due to a lack of job opportunities in South Africa after completing his teaching qualification, he joined the KMS Radio volunteering rather than doing nothing else and pushing his clothing brand “As’ Shove Artistic Brands. Ferika Heyns asked him to create illustrations for the coloring book for grown-ups with a South African flavor.

**Mat Designs**
I came up with my mat designs after realizing that I had more time at home and felt bored. I wanted to decorate my room while also hoping to earn some money to buy clothes for December, motivated by the situation in early November 2022, when my finances were not going well.
I started by creating personalized mats with words like “WELCOME” and “HELLO.” However, due to a lack of support, I lost hope and eventually stopped working on them. The only feedback I received was positive compliments, but there was no financial backing. At that time, it took me 4 to 6 days to complete a single 25 kg mat while working from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Currently, I am focusing on two types of mats: personalized mats made from sacks, which I design using plastic, and simpler mats made with thread and plastic, using the same recyclable materials.
My price list is as follows:
- 5 kg: R175
- 10 kg: R260
- 12.5 kg: R360
- 25 kg: R430
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Simelane for allowing me to revive my mat art designs in February 2025. This change means that I am back in the mat business, now working under his leadership at the Umlazi Art and Recycling Company. So far in March 2025, I have completed 10 mats with assistance from my family members, particularly my sisters. I believe that I will achieve a lot while showcasing my talent and skills in art.
Future
He will be happy to see his Art business grow into an empire and employ many unemployed youth at large.
